Microneedling uses a fine-needle pen to make controlled punctures in the skin. The device, treatment area and settings should be selected by a trained healthcare provider for your concerns and skin.
What may it address?
Certain FDA-authorized microneedling devices have specific indications for facial acne scars, facial wrinkles or abdominal scars in adults 22 and older. That does not mean every device is cleared for every concern. Ask which device is being used and which of its indications applies to your plan.
Standard microneedling — $350
The catalog price for standard microneedling is $350. The provider should confirm the treatment area, preparation and aftercare. More than one session may be discussed, but results and the number of visits are individual.
Microneedling with PRP — $450
The catalog separately lists microneedling with PRP at $450. It is a combination treatment, distinct from liquid PRP injections. FDA has not cleared microneedling devices for use with PRP or other added products, so FDA has not evaluated the safety or effectiveness of those combinations. Discuss this distinction, alternatives and the additional consent before deciding.
Other add-ons need their own review
If a product is proposed alongside microneedling, ask for its exact name, ingredients, intended route and regulatory status. A topical cosmetic is not automatically suitable for delivery through freshly needled skin.
Recovery and risks
Temporary redness, irritation, tightness, peeling, bruising or bleeding can occur. Infection, pigment changes or scarring are possible. Share a history of cold sores, abnormal scarring, skin infection, immune problems and medicines with the provider. A new sterile needle cartridge should be used for each treatment session. Follow your aftercare instructions, including sun protection and when to resume skincare products.
Is this the same as Morpheus8?
No. Standard microneedling is a mechanical fine-needle treatment. Radiofrequency microneedling adds energy and has a different risk profile. Your provider should identify which procedure is planned.
